Terms of Service
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of all websites operated by Aggro Games (including aggrogames.com and scalesofsilence.com), as well as all games developed and published by Aggro Games, including Scales of Silence. Aggro Games is an independent game studio based in Quebec, Canada, operated as a sole proprietorship.
By accessing our websites or using our games, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our websites or games.
2. Our Websites
Our websites are provided for informational purposes: to share news, media, and updates about Aggro Games and our projects. You may browse our websites freely. You may not use our websites to distribute malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, or engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the operation of our websites.
3. Our Games
3.1 License
When you purchase an Aggro Games title through Steam or any other authorized platform, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the game for personal, non-commercial purposes. You do not acquire ownership of the game or any of its content. This license remains in effect as long as you comply with these Terms and the terms of the platform through which you purchased the game.
3.2 Purchases and Refunds
All purchases of our games are made through third-party platforms such as Steam. We do not process payments directly. Pricing, payment processing, and refund policies are governed by the terms of the platform where you made your purchase. For Steam purchases, please refer to Steam's Refund Policy.
4. Intellectual Property
All content in our games and on our websites, including but not limited to code, artwork, characters, music, sound effects, story, dialogue, logos, and visual design, is the property of Aggro Games and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from this content except as expressly permitted in these Terms.
All trademarks, trade names, and logos displayed on our websites and in our games are the property of Aggro Games. Unauthorized use of these marks is prohibited.
5. Fan Content, Streaming, and Modding
We encourage our community to engage with our games creatively. The following uses are permitted without requiring prior written permission:
Streaming and Video Content. You are free to stream, record, and publish video content of our games on any platform, including for monetized channels and videos. We ask that you credit Aggro Games and the game title when reasonable.
Fan Art and Creative Works. You are welcome to create and share fan art, illustrations, cosplay, music, and other creative works inspired by our games. You may share this content freely, including on social media and personal portfolios. Commercial use of fan-created works (such as selling prints or merchandise) is not permitted without prior written approval from Aggro Games.
Modding. While our games do not include official modding tools or support, we do not prohibit players from modifying their local copy of the game for personal use. We cannot provide technical support for modified versions of our games, and we are not responsible for any issues that arise from modifications. Distributing modified versions of our games or their assets is not permitted.
We reserve the right to update these permissions at any time. Any fan content that misrepresents itself as official Aggro Games content, or that contains hateful, defamatory, or illegal material, is not permitted.
6. Acceptable Use
When interacting with Aggro Games through our websites, contact forms, or community spaces, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Harass, threaten, or abuse others
- Impersonate Aggro Games or any of its representatives
- Attempt to access systems, data, or accounts that are not intended for you
- Use any automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) on our websites without our permission
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
7. Community Spaces
Aggro Games operates community spaces, including a Discord server. These spaces have their own rules and guidelines. By participating, you agree to follow the rules posted in those spaces. We reserve the right to remove content or restrict access for users who violate community rules, these Terms, or applicable laws.
Community spaces hosted on third-party platforms (such as Discord) are also subject to that platform's own terms of service.
8. Third-Party Platforms and Links
Our websites and games may link to or integrate with third-party services, including Steam, Discord, YouTube, and social media platforms. These services are operated independently and are governed by their own terms of service and privacy policies. Aggro Games is not responsible for the content, practices, or availability of any third-party services.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Our websites and games are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Aggro Games disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that our websites or games will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. While we take reasonable steps to maintain the security and quality of our websites and games, we cannot guarantee that all defects will be corrected or that our systems will be free of vulnerabilities at all times.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Aggro Games and its owner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of our websites or games, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from reliance on any content provided.
Where liability cannot be fully excluded by law, the total liability of Aggro Games for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific product or service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for matters where liability cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Quebec.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice through our websites. Your continued use of our websites or games after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
